About this experience
Come with us to Materuni Village, walk, learn, eat, drink and dance with local people. It is a special day tour from Moshi, Visit Materuni Waterfall which is 90 Meters High, walk in between of coffee and banana trees, learn about flora and fauna found on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. During the tour you will learn about Chagga community and their history, enjoy the stunning view of Mount Kilimanjaro, experience the coffee tour from the local farms, and lastly enjoy a delicious food prepared by local Mamas. i can assure you that this tour will be the highlight of your trip in Tanzania.

Itinerary and highlights
Materuni is home to the Chagga people and is still an authentic tribal village. This charming village is just 13km away from Moshi Town and boarders Kilimanjaro National Park. We will meet you at an agreed upon time at Materuni Village Office. First you will visit Materuni waterfall, which is around a 40-minute walk. On the way, your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga people, village life, and explain the surrounding flora and fauna. The views are truly breathtaking, and with some luck you will see the summit of Kilimanjaro. When you reach the waterfall, you will see that it is more than 80 meters high. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is an inviting place for a refreshing swim so don‘t forget your swim wear!
Coffee Tour
Here you will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted, and further processed. You will also be invited to help with the grinding of the coffee, which is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances!
It is a fun and unique way to immerse yourself in the local culture! Before you say goodbye, you can savour the coffee you made while appreciating the views of the surrounding montane rainforest.
